Mission Statement
Trans Maryland is a multi-racial, multi-gender, trans-led community power building organization dedicated to Maryland’s trans community. By trans folks, for trans folks.
Our new name Trans Maryland (formerly Trans Healthcare MD), ties us to a legacy of multi-racial, multi-gender trans organizing in Maryland.

Partnerships
Planned Parenthood of Maryland in their roll out of Gender Affirming Care.
The inaugural Maryland Trans Resilience Conference, held September 21st, 2019. A collaboration between Trans Maryland, the Baltimore Transgender Alliance, CLEAR Baltimore, and trans leaders around the state, the conference created a trans-affirming space for folks to come together for panels, workshops, healing, and more.
During the 2018, 2019, 2020, and 2021 Maryland legislative sessions, we’ve worked with a coalition of trans-led or trans-affiliated organizations towards necessary policy changes in our state. These organizations include the Baltimore Transgender Alliance, Nonbinary & Intersex Recognition Project, HostHome, Maryland Trans Unity, FreeState Justice and Trans Recognition Maryland.
Passed HB 39 & SB 581 in 2021: Requires waiver of the publication requirement for name change upon motion of the petitioner. Goes into effect on October 1, 2021.
Passed HB 421 & SB 196 in 2019: Adding an X ID marker to Maryland IDs, Driver’s Licenses, and learner’s permits, and also made all gender markers “self-attest” on those documents; now we Just Check the Box.
Passed HB 959 & SB 872 in 2020: Adding consumer protections based on gender identity in health insurance.
Passed HB 1120 & SB 738 : Adding broad-based healthcare nondiscrimination in regards to gender identity in Maryland.
The National Trans Visibility March, the first Trans Visibility Community Festival, Trans Thriving, Baltimore Pride, Frederick Pride, Annapolis Pride, Westminster Pride, Hagerstown Pride, Cumberland Pride, Howard County Pride, Pride of SoMD, Mid-Shore Pride, MoCo Pride Party, Trans Day of Remembrance, USPATH Trans Town Hall, and many other panels and events statewide.
