The Trans Youth Advocates DMV 2019 Cohort

 
 

Trans Maryland & DCATS were proud to launch Trans Youth Advocates (TYA) DMV in May 2019.

Participants joined other young trans (including but not limited to transgender, nonbinary, gender expansive, Two-Spirit or genderqueer) folx ages 18-34 from the DMV for a compensated two-day training in Washington, DC on May 30 & 31st, followed by a three-month collaborative program to apply skills from the program. We were honored to welcome Dr. Jaymie Campbell as our facilitator for this program.

As transgender persons, we face a dire need to expand access to trans-competent and gender-affirming care across the region. To this end, TYA DMV aims to nurture a regional advocacy network to help lead the education, training and community organizing required for this and other challenges.
